FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Friday, October 26, 2007...Robeson County After a successful BBQ lunch in Hoke County, we made our way to neighboring Robeson County. Our first stop was the Southeastern Regional Medical Center where Senator Smith met with a number of physicians and hospital administrators. Fred shared his vision of how to improve healthcare in North Carolina while the hospital staff provided the history of the Medical Center. A gathering of Robeson County Homebuilders welcomed the Senator prior to the BBQ dinner at the National Guard Armory in Lumberton. "I didn't know there were this many Republicans in Robeson County", was a common statement from supporters arriving at the dinner. A surprise guest: Senator Smith's 7th grade teacher. The Hoke and Robeson County BBQs were wonderful notes on which to end the week, having drawn impressive crowds in predominantly democratic-controlled areas. As people left, they were filled with energy and hope that Senator Smith will be the leader of the great state of North Carolina. A reaction that rewards our efforts!
