From The Campaign Trail

FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Look on as D.J., a Fred Smith campaign team-member, keeps the folks back home informed about Fred's activities while he's on the road meeting the people of our great state...

Monday, October 29, 2007, Rockingham County...After three days of being "Mimi" and playing trains, I came back restored and ready to hit the BBQ trail. Each opportunity I have to listen to and watch people's excitement at Fred's message, restores my faith and hope for a brighter Republican-led future for North Carolina. One thing is certain - we'll have an ethical leader when Fred is at the helm. I knew Representative Brian Holloway had a good, full day planned for Fred. While they visited local business people and elected officials, we planned travel schedules and BBQ events for December and January. The Harrington's of Eden opened their home, a National Historic Landmark built in 1840 to three dozen guests who were buzzing about "A Little Extra Effort" - the book and the man who wrote it. At the appointed time, many guests headed to the Rockingham Community College Student Center and we were pleasantly surprised to see our team setting up additional chairs. I thought we might be forced to SRO - Standing Room Only. The caterer told me he'd catered many events in that room but he'd never seen it so full. That felt good. I know local Republican leaders like Senator Phil Burger, his son the District Attorney, former GOP chair Matt Smith and activist Tamara Garcia all influenced Fred's successful day.. Thanks to everyone Fred scored a touchdown in Rockingham County. Yeah, Team!!!
