FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Saturday, January 19, 2008...Camden County. Last night we drove north to Williamston (Martin County) and stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn because the Al-Pam District conducted campaign training this morning and Fred had an opportunity to greet the local GOP volunteers and northeast North Carolina candidates.
After Fred spoke to the group, our attention turned to the winter storm that was blowing its way east and its cousin coming from the south. We planned alternatives for our evening trip home and decided to stock up on water and food just in case the RV got stranded in the snow and ice that was predicted. We always anticipated the possibility of bad weather in the west, but never this type of precipitation in the east.
Weather forgotten, we set up at Camden High School, greeted our guests as Fred completed a county tour with Commissioners Sandy Duckwall and Clayton Riggs. Fred was energized in his presentation and talked about the OLF and how there needs to be a win-win situation for North Carolina for an OLF to be sited here. Again as Fred shared his vision of programs that a Governor with genuine leadership experience and business acumen could implement, people were fixed on his every word. He challenged Camden to get out the vote and increase their primary participation. After lunch, a media interview, meetings with the Economic Development Council, the County Commissioners and lots of photographs as everyone wanted their picture with Fred. Thanks Camden! You made us feel like Fred had already won. Spread the word and that enthusiasm around. Fred Smith for Governor!
