FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Saturday, February 2, 2008...Montgomery County... Senator Eddie Goodall represents Union and part of Mecklenburg County. He sits next to Fred in the state senate. I forgot that Eddie would be joining us today. And I'm sure glad he did. He met Fred and Ginny at the Federation of Republican Women's meeting in Concord where Fred spoke for about 15 minutes. They left Ginny to attend the rest of the meeting and drove to Troy to meet us for the luncheon BBQ. Having worked with Senator Goodall in about 8 counties, I know that he respects Fred and today he introduced his colleague to our 55 guests. As Eddie spoke about Fred's leadership in the Republican caucus, his listening skills and problem solving abilities, I was struck that here are two good men, men of character who genuinely want to serve their communities. I admitted to myself that I've become jaded to "politicians" because I'm disappointed in the abuse of power, the corruption that puts elected officials in jail, and the mud-slinging. I realized that there are good men and women willing to serve and "we the people" need to work harder to ensure leaders with integrity and moral conviction get elected. The citizens of Montgomery responded to Fred's message and I have every confidence Fred won their support. Thank you Montgomery - now spread the word.
