FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Look on as D.J., a Fred Smith campaign team-member, keeps the folks back home informed about Fred's activities while he's on the road meeting the people of our great state...

Monday, February 25, 2008...Tyrrell County... While Fred made an early morning presentation to the mental health community at the RBC Center in Raleigh, the RV headed to Tyrrell to set up for the luncheon BBQ. Good thing. Guests were already arriving at 11 and we had to bring more tables from another site. The caterer ran back to his store for more food - a recurring theme at our 2008 BBQs. Tells me Fred is catching on and people are engaged in our country's civic process. Fred arrived to great enthusiasm in part because of the energetic planning and verbal invitations from former GOP chair Sue Spivey, campaign friend Harvey West, Jr and our regional campaign manager Bill Fields. By the time they left the Columbia Auditorium, word was on the street and people in town - from the barber shop to the courthouse - were anxious to meet Fred. There were planned and impromptu meetings all afternoon with local parents, pastors, business people, media and many Democrats advising us they'd changed their affiliation so they can vote for Fred. Now that's what we like to hear. At one of the meetings in the library, Bill, Fred and Harvey arrived in the appointed meeting room to find no one there so Fred took it in stride and said he'd check his email; the librarian came in and said "are you here for the meeting with Senator Smith? I had to move it to a bigger room!" Bill was elated. His hard work and preparation with the people in Tyrrell yielded dividends and we're happy to have so many of them on Fred's team. 71 days and counting to Primary Day! Come on, Tyrrell - call your family and friends in other parts of the state! We need every vote for Fred! Thanks.
