FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Look on as D.J., a Fred Smith campaign team-member, keeps the folks back home informed about Fred's activities while he's on the road meeting the people of our great state...

Tuesday, March 11, 2008...Ashe County...RV headed west - the last trip to the mountains - hard to believe we started Fred's grand 100 County Extra Effort BBQ Tour August 2, 2007 here in the mountains. Did you know Fred's made 64 visits to Western North Carolina in the past 14 month? He and Ginny love the mountains. The RV stopped first to meet Fred who had been in Greensboro overnight. He had a mid-morning meeting with business folks in the area and then a luncheon stop with the North Carolina Bankers Association. You may recall Fred is one of the founders and Chairman of the Board of North State Bank so that knowledge plus his tax law and business experience make him a perfect Chief Executive Officer for North Carolina. After lunch they left Fred's vehicle behind for the ride to Ashe County where they met former Sheriff George Erwin. Fred interviewed with the Jefferson Post newspaper and then met with retired Sheriff Jim Hartley. Jim and Fred met at length discussing law enforcement issues, Fred's four point plan to deal with illegal immigration and safety in our streets, homes and schools. Before you knew it, it was BBQ time and Fred arrived at the Ashe County High School to a very appreciative crowd of about a hundred. The people provided lots of applause for Fred's plan, laughter at his childhood lesson on the football field and serious concern as he outlined a future in North Carolina that can only become a reality with a leaders of determination and persistence. Fred's proven he has those qualities time and time again. We know we can count on Ashe County to bring out extra votes for Fred. It was a good day - a good tour. Thanks for the BBQ memories Western NC. Fred will be back!
