FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
March 17, 2008...Dare County...The 100th BBQ - the 97th County. First Flight High School - beautiful facility just four years old and located across the street from the Kitty Hawk - Wright Brothers Monument. Someone suggested that the inside of the building reminded them of an airport - I didn't see it but I liked all the graphics and easy identifiers. We set for 80 and before long were setting more tables for the BBQ and finished our count at about 120. The people in Dare were enthusiastic and optimistic. Chairman George Embry welcomed everyone and Dan Beall who serves as our county point introduced Fred to the crowd. Fred was upbeat; the audience was spontaneous with applause supporting his comments. Fred noted how there are 7,000 Republicans and 7,000 independents in Dare County and yet in the last primary election only 1,000 voted. You could hear the collective gasp. I'm convinced this crowd will do better. On their way out Dare County took signs, wrote checks and provided ample encouragement for Fred to continue his rigorous campaign schedule. Four short meetings were planned for Fred after the BBQ and we packed up to head to Ahoskie. "On the road again," Willy Nelson's words rang in my ears. Just one more day with Willy; next week - Lee Greenwood. Check out www.joinfred.com for the Lee Greenwood Rally for Fred Smith for Governor 2008 schedule in your region.
