FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Monday, March 10, 2008...Richmond County...Fred enjoyed an afternoon of media interviews - he's become most comfortable with the media. His visits with the Anson Record, Daily Journal in Richmond County and WJSC Christian Radio all went very well and gave Fred an afternoon energy boost. Even Fred's competitors have noted that "no one will campaign harder than Fred Smith" and that requires energy. It's because Fred walks the talk and believes that a campaign should be a "conversation with the people." You can't have a conversation if you're only talking at people from a TV ad. You have to get out and meet the people and spread excitement for a future with true leadership at the helm. So that's what Fred did in Richmond. At Rockingham Junior High School, the people came out to converse with Fred and share their concerns. They wanted to learn more about the man who has emerged to lead North Carolina. He's not a lifelong politician, he does not run a city with the highest tax rate in the state; he's more than a one issue record, he has administrative experience. He's repeatedly turned around failing companies and turned them into successful businesses; he writes paychecks for over 600 people, is a church and community leader, understands what counties need because he served as county commissioner and understands how the state operates because he's been elected state senator by 62% of the voters in his district. Fred won't have a learning curve; he understands the system and how the state relates to counties from both sides. The people of Richmond liked those traits and Fred earned their support. Thanks, Richmond. See you at the polls!
