FRED SMITH GOVERNOR 2008 - "A Little Extra Effort" Statewide BBQ Tour
Tuesday, February 05, 2008...Guilford South...After a good night's sleep in Greensboro and a couple of hours to check email and make phone calls, Fred was whisked away by Representative Bryan Holloway from Stokes County. Bryan supports Fred's candidacy and helps us wherever he can. Bryan drove Fred to visit the Guilford Sheriff's Department, a luncheon appointment with elected officials and later escorted him to a newspaper interview with the High Point Enterprise. During the afternoon they met with some executives to discuss long-term health care which is an important issue as 65 percent of the US population will be over 65 by the year 2013. From there they attended a fundraising event hosted by Representative Laura Wiley and her husband, Bruce. Setting up the High Point Central High School Cafeteria was a little challenge. The room was designed to look like a cafe with heavy tables and at multi levels. There are two hundred seats divided by a partial wall that dons a video screen on either side. Of course, the ceiling projectors could not play a DVD - so punt! We set up our equipment in the front of the room and Fred's wireless microphone did its duty as Fred had to walk back and forth to either side of the wall so folks on both sides could see him. If they couldn't see him they clearly were listening to his vision for North Carolina's future. They interrupted dozens of time with applause, murmured, chuckled, shouted "you're right" and created that rally atmosphere. Books were signed, pictures with the "next governor" were taken and spirits soared in High Point! Now our team challenges Southern Guilford County to run with the ball and blow out the score of votes for Fred Smith! We know you can do it!
Fred Smith's 18th of 100!
September 19, 2007
Dear Friends,
Wednesday, September 19, 2007 ... Guilford County ... Fred's first day here (we'll be back) started as a guest on WGOC 1070's "Guilford Republican Message," a call in show featuring prominent Republicans. A book signing in Pleasant Garden preceded a Republican Forum Lunch. Afterwards, Sheriff B.J.Barnes took Fred to meet supporters. Law enforcement appreciates Fred's commitment to the rule of law. Business leaders hosted him in Greensboro prior to an outstanding fundraising event. Fox News was set-up when Fred arrived for the BBQ at Northwest Guilford High School. After the news interview, guests listened intently as Fred projected his vision of what North Carolina's next governor should do and how he should act. Fred was interrupted eight times with applause and standing ovations opened and closed his presentation. It appears Guilford Republicans will vote Fred Smith! We couldn't be more pleased. Great day!!!
